GOOD  MORNING  PEEPS

+

+

+

Let's hop right to it!

This
FLASHBACK  FRIDAY
will be
MUCH  DIFFERENT THAN USUAL
Hang on to your hats.

is  what  we  seem to do a great deal of here
at
4998 Noble Street.
In fact
WE
SAVE
TOOOOOOO
MUCH
as witnessed by a two bay garage so stuffed with items
we cannot use the garage
AND
an attic that is likewise
PACKED.
[ Border Hoarders ? ]
MUCH
of that "stuff" will be disposed of this Spring / Summer
by mutual agreement
[ and the fact that we are just freaking tired of it all ]
H -O-W-E-V-E-R
there are some things that I cannot see me parting with,
one category of which is
[ this is where you need to hang onto your hats ]
OBITUARIES.
Now I can explain.
You see, it started with my mother
and was then
perpetuated by
Mary Bogan.
It's really THEIR  faults.
Mom had many "obits", especially of family memebers
[ which is easily understood ]
and I have followed suit.
But
MARY BOGAN
wellllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll,
back in the day we were at
The  Bogan  Estate
on Norton Street
and
I happened to look in their family Bible:
! HOLY SAINTS of GOD !
Mass cards and obits
like there was no tomorrow.
I.  WAS.  AWESTRUCK.
Hence
although not as faithful as my Mom OR Mary Bogan
I have saved a few.
NOT  A  GREAT  MANY
but
" some "
What brought this to mind recently was
the first
Memories Albumn
I kept after returning to
[ the parish formally known as ]
St. Mary's
as
Organist / Choir Director.
I. Kept. Everything.
The first couple of years I just kept everything.
And sure enough
not only were there
Sunday Bulletins and photographs and rehearsal plans
and even examples of actual music
but there were also
obituaries
from that first year
back at
St. Mary's

Here are just a few,
oh, the memories.

I remember this as Mary E. Ross
was the mom of our friends
DONNA and Dave and Danny.

This was such a shock.
To the Pasquale family,
to St. Mary's
to the entire community of Belmont
and beyond.
Hearts torn asunder.

Oh my.
St. Mary's Choir
was learning a song for Easter
when
Dana Lee Ross
would be officially become a Roman Catholic.
Then
Kay Tronetti Heaney's
Dad
JOE  TRONETTI
died.
The song chosen for Dana's entrance into the church
was first sung publicly not  to  Dana
but
BY
Dana and Sue
[ accompanied by St. Mary's Choir ]
at
Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville, NY
for funeral mass of
Joe Tronetti
" Do not be afraid I am with you,
I have called you each by name,
come and follow me
I will bring you
HOME
I love you
and
you are mine."

The passing of
long time
BELMONT
community members
always gets to me.
It's like our "pillars" keep falling
and
new "seasoned" pillars
must then attempt to fill in the gap.

It is never easy providing organ / piano music for a funeral,
or singing for a funeral
but we tried to keep in mind:
" He never said it would be easy,
He said it would be worth it."

Below is a picture of
ST. MARY'S CHOIR
on
Christmas Eve 1992
and it would have been this same group
that sung for some of the funerals listed above.

They were a great group back then
and
have only become greater as the years have flown by.
Each and every one
to this very day
owns
"real estate"
in my heart.

I'm outta here.

Yes
GOOD  MORNING  PEEPS

T'is yet another good day to be alive.

+
+
+

Since
"Chances Are"
tomorrow
may be a
FLASHBACK FRIDAY
I will be taking things a wee bit light today.

And away we go

+
+
+

First off
THANK YOU
to all
who commented on
yesterday's post
which could have been titled:
" L'il Al and the Jingling of those Bells !"
As I wrote that post yesterday
I felt like I was back there,
in that loft, with Dana
and
it led to many a smile throughout the day!

+
+
+

Had some other delightful happenings yesterday also
one of which I shouldn't expound on
although I do want to say this:
TO
" Too Glam to give a _ _ _ _ "
You light up my life.

Also yesterday evening we attend our first
St. John's Episcopal Church
Bible Study Group
and it was
WONDER-FILLED!
As Michael said when we went to leave yesterday:
" People who think Bible study has to be boring
ought to attend THIS one."
We are studying the Apocrypha
and the history of the same in the Christian churches.
FAR from a "dry" subject,
we laughed  almost  as much as we studied and debated.
Bible Study begins at 5:00pm
and is followed by a light supper
which is provided each week by one member of the group.
GREAT TIME
Heading back next week
Lord willin'.

Then last night sometime after we'd returned home from
Bible study
I saw on Facebook that I had been nominated for the
Scripture Challenge
[ To post on FB a scripture verse or passage that has touched your life
and then nominate one or two other people each day. This is to be done for seven days ]
I was nominated by
our sister
Kate Feldbauer-Handy
[ Love you Kate ! ]
and
I couldn't be happier.
What a super way to spread something positive on FB
instead of some of the "doom and gloom"
we [seem] to read to so much about.
Today mine was
I have this on a key chain
which held the organ key at
[ the parish formally known as ]
St. Mary's
for many, MANY years.
Love this verse.
LOVE. IT.

However that for which I was most
GRATEFUL
yesterday was
when I received an unexpected phone call from
AUNT DORIS.
If you are a regular reader you might recall that
Aunt Doris is the wife
[ well now widow ]
of
UNCLE BOB FELDBAUER
who recently went
Home to be with our Lord.
A few words that come to mind
when thinking of Aunt Doris are:
Loving
Gracious
Classy
Humorous
Knowledgeable
Kind
Caring
and
Compassionate

We had thee BEST chat!
I was on the proverbial "Cloud Nine" after our talk.
We had some serious moments of sharing
but we also had much laughter
and when I say much
I mean
MUCH!
I felt sooooooo much better when I found out that
she and Uncle Bob
were like Michael and I
in that she too is a
"Let's get this done"
type  person
whereas
Uncle Bob and Michael
[ and Bob's brother / Michael's Dad = Jim ]
have to
"contemplate"
a project before even beginning to tackle it.
Oh Aunt Doris,
have you ANY idea how you made my heart
SING
yesterday?
God continues to bless us
in ways we could never predict nor ever truly deserve.

AND
" Just one more thing "
[ as my dear Maggie Mead McNinch used to say.  Gosh I miss her...]
I want to publicly
thank
GOD
for what He has
YET AGAIN
proved to me:
Without going into too much detail:
I recently had someone purposely walk out of my life
who previously had been a  huge  part of it.
It hurt.
It still hurts.
Closing a door that they said would always be open.

GOD
in His
Infinite Love
THROWS OPEN
the
WINDOWS of my HEART
[ which I felt had might be closing and sealing ]
proving to me yet again
that
HE
is my source
of
LOVE
not  any  person.
PERIOD

+
++

I'm outta here
[ for now ]
I very well may make another post today --- time will tell.

THANKING YOU FOR YOUR TIME THIS TIME TILL NEXT TIME

GOOD   MORNING   PEEPS!
I   AM  HOPING
YOU

Let's hop right to it, shall we ?

+
+
+

Your
RESPONSES
to
YESTERDAY'S
" Question  of  the  Day "
were
REMARKABLE
To Everyone
Including

Mark Feldbauer
[ Spot on Bro! ]

Aimee Gildner
[ Amen Aimee,,, I do understand the family angle sweetie ! ]

Michael  Burke
[ You DO put it right out there - but I like that, even those rare times when I don't agree with you.]
  MICHAEL  BURKE for PRESIDENT!
[ Gregory K. Shelley approves this message ]

Meredith Chilson
[" Ha! I don't usually know it (being unfriended) for a while & then I think it must be a mistake!" ]
{  Love this response Meredith Elise }

Donna Holmes
[ I agree D, if people don't want to read it, either ignore it or delete us, but it can be hurtful though.]

Kate Feldbauer Handy
[ Sister Kate had one of THEE BEST responses (IMHO) of all ]
[ " Block 'em! They made the cut, now you make sure it's a clean break !!! ]
{ Kate - Not only did that crack me up, it is EXACTLY what I did Monday night
after I discovered that particular person had un-friended me. }

Marcine Delo
[ I hear ya Red, and you were 100% correct, esp. with  that one . ]

Mary Fuller
[ Oh are we ever on the same track = politics ! ]

Nancy Brown
[ And I keep track of you also lady, by isn't always easy ! ]

Barb [ the babe ] McNinch
[ So So SO TRUE ! ]

Dottie Graham
[ To know you IS to love you, therefore no one would EVER UNfriend you ... EVER! ]

Lynne Faecke
[ I totally agree Lynne, sometimes it can be more hurtful than words can express.]

Robin Dean Smith
[ You, me and our little arrow ! ]

Lorie Feldbauer
[ I enjoyed two things in particular about your response:
1.] How you chose to accept a friend request (go back & read it on FB people)
and
2.  " Facebook is like a little town.  We all get to run our version.
The "power" can go to the head. lol."
LOVE THIS LORIE! ]

Kathy Frungillo Hamlin
[ "FB should be treated like a newspaper - read what articles you want & skip the others."
Point blank and period = your response was great Kathy.  Miss you kiddo. ]

I am blessed with thee most insightful & wise
family and friends a guy could have.
THANK YOU !

And to that individual who blessed me
by unfriending me recently on FB
I put this here because said individual could still read this blog
as remains open to the public.

MOVING RIGHT ALONG
[ and maybe in a feeble attempt to redeem myself after the picture above ]

Since Lent began a week ago I thought I would share another religious type story with you.

PICTURE IT:
The church formally known as "St. Mary's" in Belmont, NY
circa 1973
[ or thereabouts ]
(You will understand this story best if you are / have been
Roman Catholic
or know enough about the RC faith to understand its liturgy.)

Back to our story
It's Saturday eve and 5:00pm mass with Fr. Hassler
I am organist and in the loft with me is Dana Presutti.
( This alone should let you know we  might  be in for a little "trouble".)
It is also either the first
( or one of the first )
masses
at which
Alan Presutti
has ever served.
{ Non RC's = his first attempt at being an altar boy }
FIRST
allow me to say that Alan was
( excuse me Al )
one of thee most
ADORABLE
Altar boys
EVER
A pure picture of innocence
and he so wanted to get everything
just right.
GOT THE SCENE IN YOUR HEAD?

Mass begins, opening song, greeting, readings, homily, offering, etc.
then we come to the consecration.

Here's where Dana and I got into trouble.

Adorable l'il Al isn't quite sure at what point
the bells are to be rung during the consecration.
[ There are three times, all overtly predictable to most of us, but not to a neophyte like Al. ]

So L'il Al does what he deems best
he rings the bells wherever he thinks is a significant moment
within the consecration.

At first, in the loft,
Dana and I
don't understand what is happening.
We look at each other with a questioning look
that later turns to light chuckles
[ as we are on the kneelers watching L'il Al up on/by the altar ]
which turns to full chuckles
then
some laughter
AND
you KNOW how hard it is to refrain from laughing in church
( as in when someone does a one cheek sneak in church = flatulence )
well
Among other things
I am a snorter.

As l'il Al kept on
"ringin' dem bells"

I snorted.

I lie not when I say that Dana and I both
hit the floor in the choir loft so no one could see us.
[ By this point I knew Fr. Hassler was going to kill me ]

WE
COULD
NOT
STOP
LAUGHING

And
L'il Al
STILL
kept on
" riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing "

A few seconds later
" riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing "

Dana and I were
really
Really
REALLY
trying to control ourselves.

Didn't work.

Finally we reached the great amen at the end of the consecration.

We dared not look at Fr. Hassler
but instead checked out
l'il  Al
who was still adorable and intent on doing his best for
JESUS.

JESUS
Whom I was sure Dana and I were about to meet
face to face after mass.
[ Because Fr. was about to kill us both.]

Needless to say
Dana and I
hoped to exit the foyer of St. Mary's
BEFORE
Fr. Hassler could get to us.
NO
SUCH
LUCK

He was watching for us to come out of the "crying room"
[ what an appropriate name THAT was at THAT moment ]

Fr. Hassler said:
" Stay here Greg, Dana.  We need to have a chat."

As Fr. said good-bye to the parishioners before they left church
Dana and I contemplated our fate.
And guess what?
WE
WERE
STILL
LAUGHING

This was not a good thing.

Finally Fr. addressed us
expressing his  deep  regret at us exhibiting such disrespect for
the holy sacrifice of the mass.

Dana and I said we were sorry.
[ We were, in fact, sorry - about what could be up for debate.]
Fr. encouraged us to sit quietly in church and contemplate what we had done.
He left the church,
turned out a few lights
and left us there to
contemplate.

As soon as we heard Fr. Hassler in the rectory kitchen
[ slamming dishes around = he was not happy ]
we burst out in the longest fit of laughter
I had ever experienced in my lifetime.
 Dana wanted to
" riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing "
the bells
one more time
before we left.

We decided maybe that would be pushing things.

We departed from St. Mary's
and
LAUGHED
[ and snorted ]
all the way to
21 Court Street
where Wanita asked
[ as only she could ]
" How was mass, boys? "

To which we gave some inane reply
then
burst
into
LAUGHTER!

And that is my
religious story
for this
Wednesday of Lent.

Love ya L'il Al
and
sure do miss you
Dana Lynn Presutti

Ring those heavenly bells Dana!

GOOD   MORNING   PEEPS!
LET'S GET STARTED
+
+
+

Since I devoted yesterday's Keep A Song In Your Heart blog post to MJ [ which he deeply appreciated by
the way - - - as he did all of YOUR WISHES ON FACEBOOK ],,,,, I neglected to say

To EVERYONE who offered comments and advice to me on the blog post from SUNDAY LAST.

LYNNE  FAECKE

AIMEE GILDNER

KIM CARTER

NANCY WRIGHT BROWN

LORIE FELDBAUER

MARCINE DELO

MRS. C.

DONNA HOLMES

KATHY FRUNGILLO HAMLIN

LYNN MANNING

MEREDITH CHILSON

BARB [ the babe ] McNINCH

DOTTIE  GRAHAM

MICHELLE  LIBERTONE

I truly was feeling lower than a snakes belly when I wrote that, and struggling to slither my way out

of it.  Your words meant more than you know ,,,, more than you could EVER know.  Deep inside I

think I realize many of the things you wrote, but there are times I need to hear / see them just to get

my balance back, if you catch my drift.  I have struggled my entire life [ read ENTIRE life ] with

letting those JOY-SUCKING NEGATIVE-NELLIES (or NEDS ) get to me.  'Nuff said, for now.

Next Topic

I am more than aware that some people are bug-a-boo about it, some have left it to only return

later on, some of left it never to return, etc.  I am also well aware that FACEBOOK is quite into our

privacy, etc.  Yada, yada, yada.  All that being said, for the most part,  I LIKE IT .   FB does give us

options as to our privacy [ if you can figure them out ] and even though they can still be intrusive,

LIKE FACEBOOK .  Can't even begin to sing its praises concerning people we are in touch with

now that we would not have been, had it not been for FACEBOOK.   YES the people can be

irritating at times [ read Zena's blog from today ] but all in all I LIKE FACEBOOK.

THAT  BEING  STATED and IN THE RECORD BOOK
I
AM
SO
THANKFUL
FOR
THAT
LITTLE
SYMBOL
IN THE
UPPER  RIGHT HAND CORNER
ON EACH POST
IN MY
NEWS FEED
[ looks like the head of a downward pointing arrow ]
THAT ALLOWS ME TO HIT
" I don't want to see this "
[ or "Unfollow Gretta", etc.]

WHY?

BECAUSE
I
USE
THAT
OPTION
O--F--T--E--N

Can't begin to tell you how that teeny tiny little option has lowered my blood pressure since I found it

and started using it.  AND in a political season ... omGoodness .... don't even get me going on how

handy it is. [ I will also admit that when a political season starts really heating up I "unfollow" some

people who "follow & believe" that ridiculous faux NOT news network, but I digress. ]

So last evening we are watching some "FRINGE" off from NETFLIX whilst simultaneously

floating around on our Kindle's and I happened to see some garbage on my FACEBOOK newsfeed,

so  BOINK hit that little symbol, then hit "I don't want to see this" and.... TA DA!  No longer on MY

newsfeed.  Love it and had to share it.  I am exploring more and more of the options on

FACEBOOK and trying to set things up to MY liking.  It  CAN  be done, maybe not to the extent

that we might like, but it can be done.

Also, have you ever just "discovered" you've been UNfriended ?   I made one of those discoveries

last night and with this one was  PRAISING  JESUS  for this unexpected gift !  This rather overt

circumcision is not something that I would have felt comfortable doing myself, but now that it was

done for / to me it is okay.  One more piece of a puzzle [ of my life ? ] that rather than coming

together, seems to be falling away.  And so it goes .

+
+
+
This leads us to our

QUESTION  OF  THE  DAY

Have YOU ever been
SURPRISED / SHOCKED / GRATEFUL
to be
"UNfriended"
on
FACEBOOK
?
And if so,
what was your reaction?
Ticked?
Upset that YOU hadn't done it to them first?
Broken hearted?
or
Did you do a naked cha-cha dance of joy ?

Now I realize that most of you are
SO
SWEET
you have probably never been
CUT OFF
but if you have, please share your thoughts about it.

+
+
+

I'm outta here
[ for now ]

THANKING YOU FOR YOUR TIME THIS TILL NEXT TIME
