MONDAY ~ MONDAY

Good Morning

And I'm back
complete with mask.
[ If you don't understand that,,, so be it.]
Hope you can get the video that is the first thing posted above.
Ah, the memories it brings back.
Side note:  I really like the little "side step shuffle"
Mama Cass does with her feet.
She apparently died in her sleep of a heart attack
[ way WAY too young ]
but the nasty rumor of her choking on a ham sandwich persist.
Since this video is listed as from 1966
I would have been twelve years seasoned.
According to Wikipedia
Monday Monday
"was the group's only number one hit
on the U.S. Billboard Top 100"
and
"The song includes a false ending,
when there is a pause before the coda of the song,
and goes up half a note
for the bridges and refrains of the song.
It was the second consecutive number-one hit song in the U.S.
to contain a false ending,
succeeding
 Good Lovin'
by
The Young Rascals.

On
March 2, 1967
The Mamas and The Papas
won a
Grammy Award
for
Best Pop Performance by a Duo or a Group
with Vocal
for this song."

Personally if I had previously known that
The Mamas and The Papas
had only made it to
# 1
one time
I would have bet it was for
California Dreamin'.
I would have been wrong.

Apparently when Californina Dreamin' was released
so was
The Ballad of the Green Beret
so they ended up in a competition, of sorts.
HOWEVER
those two songs tied for
Song of the Year
according to Cashbox.

Be that as it may,
according to my understanding
California Dreamin'
peaked in the U.S. at #4
[ and at # 23 in the U.K.]

Do YOU remember
either
MONDAY - MONDAY
or
California Dreamin'
at the time that they came out?
What was happening in YOUR life at the time?
Just curious
you are under no obligation to answer.
[ And if you're too freaking young to remember ,,, "Bless your ever lovin' little heart." ]

PETS / FURRY FRIENDS
Do you have one?  Two?  Umpteen?

Here's a picture of our oldest "kid"
Taylor Aaron
Taylor was born on
March 13, 2005
at the home of
Jim and Arlene McNinch
He was the runt of the litter and as such his tail was never bobbed,
hence his Grandma Arlene named him
Taylor or Tail-or
[ Get it?  ]
We had his older brother
Winston Alexander
a few weeks before we were able to adopt Taylor.
[ Winston passed away a few years later, they were quite the duo, those to brothers! ]
Arlene didn't want to part with Taylor
but due to circumstances
[ too many dogs at the McNinch home ]
we were able to obtain Tayor weeks later.

After Winston passed away
Taylor would bring one of his stuffed toys
[ mostly "Mr.Flea" from his Uncle Ray and Aunt Noelle DeTine ]
to breakfast or dinner with him,
so he'd not eat alone.
[ We were always with him, but he need someone to represent his deceased brother I guess.]

THEN about a year and half{?} after Winston's passing
we got a phone call from
Sister Rosemary Benson.
Our lives were about to change
dramatically.
Sister had some friends that needed a dog sitter
" just for a couple of weeks".
[ Beware the Nun ! ]
[ Just kidding here folks, we adore Sister Rosemary ]

We took Taylor with us
to see if he approved of this possible "guest".
He did.
The dog named, at the time, "Louie" came to 4998 Noble.
And never left.
Here he is currently
This is  not  how he looked when he came to us.
The dog we renamed
PAULIE
had been through some rough times in his life.
The home he was living in previous to us had treated him
with tender care, as did the one just before them.
HOWEVER
some places had not been kind to him.
There was evidence that he had been mistreated,
as in kicked and perhaps hit.
He was skitterish if one raised their voice, even in laughter, etc.
Yet even with that, he tried his best to be his best.
Hence we named him after
St. Paul from the Bible.
Paul had stated,
that whatever circumstance he found himself in,
therein he was content.
Our Paulie
had apparently been to hell and back
and yet
here he was,
still trying to trust that humans could / would love him.
And we did.
And we do.

The people who trusted us to watch their "Louie"
for a "couple of weeks"
really needed someone to take him permanently
as there was / is illness in the home
[ M.S. ]
and they were seeking someone to truly love "Louie".
This was told to us by Sister Rosemary two - three weeks later
when we got the FULL details of his previous history.

Would we be interested in our place being his "forever home"?

At that point in time
I was trying to figure out how my heart could ever return him
to his "caregivers"
[ we detest the word "owners" ]
when they wanted him back.
SOOOOOOOO
Here he is.
Here he will stay
[ Lord willin' ]

MJ
was VERY understanding through all of this
although
at the time
MJ would have been happy with just Taylor,
he and Paulie have bonded
but of course!

And Taylor?
After umpteen weeks,
if  Paulie was annoying Taylor,
Taylor would tilt his head and look at us like.
" I thought he was returnable ? "

Truth be told
they adore each other
and
get into all kinds of mischief together.
You just have to trust me on that one.

I know this looks like they are about to fight, but in truth they were about to play "chase".

We have made the mutual decision
that after these two
go to
Rainbow  Bridge
that we will adopt no more pets.
[ Well perhaps a goldfish ]

But here's a little kicker;
Taylor  still  brings
"Mr. Flea"
the stuffed flea from Uncle Ray and Aunt Noelle
to breakfast and dinner with him.
However
"Mr. Flea"
stays umpteen feet away from their dining area
because
Taylor has his brother now
and
Paulie has his forever home.

So
OuestionS  of the  Day

Do you
REMEMBER
when
The Mamas and The Papas
released
MONDAY - MONDAY
or
CALIFORNIA  DREAMIN'
and
what memories do these songs bring to mind?

AND
Second  Question
DO YOU HAVE PETS / FURRY FAMILY MEMBERS?
[ Just realize that 2nd description COULD get me in trouble ! ]
Please share them with us - pics esp. appreciated.

Not sure I shall post a link to this on Facebook as I usually do.  Heck, not sure this post will ever make it to actually BE posted.  My heart is weary tonight and my mind not in the best place.  That happens to all of us at times, or at least I'd like to believe it does.  To hold that belief means that I am not the only one .......
What's going on?

I'm sick.  Sick of believing in people only to have them disappoint me time and Time and TIME again.  And please, for the love of God, do not, Do Not, DO NOT POST or remind me of that quote by Mother Theresa [ or whomever ] about loving people "anyway" and all that malarkey.  Don't want to see it,,,,,,, don't want to hear about it,,,,,,, does not apply at the moment.  Period.

I try desperately [ as any of my regular readers should know ] to "look on the bright side" and "keep on smiling" and "laugh, laugh, laugh".  Well sometimes [ some ? ] that's just not possible or IF possible,,,,,,, it is nothing other than a mask.  A mask that, from the outside looking in, appears happy and full of laughter and love.  But from the inside of the mask, to the wearer, the interior of the mask is dark, brooding, full of dozens of demons of despair.  BUT as long as those seeing the mask from the outside are happy and accepting ,,,,,,, all's well right?

One of my Dear O's expressed on FB over the weekend, her disappointment in being let down by a friend, a friend I believe that she caught in a lie of sorts. [ The friend had said something negative about my Dear O', then later lied about saying it.]  I wrote a reply [ actually I wrote two, but my second reply is the one I mention here ] stating that MJ and I know EXACTLY what my Dear O' was talking about.  TRUST has been broken so often with MJ and I that we no longer seek friends, just acquaintances, as acquaintances can't hurt us so much.

We have always believed that life can make us better OR bitter, and that we'd try with every fiber of our beings to  not  let life make us bitter.  I fear we may be on the cusp of losing that battle, and that scares us.  Both.

As Christians we  know  that  LOVE  wins.  Point blank and period.  And yet, at times, on nights like tonight, it seems that hate sure has an upper hand.  Haters and users and those who "stand by" and allow or enable the haters / users to "do their thing" because to do otherwise would "upset the apple cart".

Haters and users and those who "stand by" and do nothing ,,, we just can't figure them out.  All we know is, t'is better to back away, to have [ far more ] acquaintances than friends, and pray to Almighty God that the hurt will someday,,,,,,, fade away.

I just realized that by not posting the link to this on FB,
ONLY
those who are "Followers" of this Blog
might get notice of this posting.
Interesting.

Thanks for listening
