PERSONAL NOTE:  When I keep hammering away at you the "things have changed" since the SCOTUS ruling last Friday, it's for a reason.  They have.  Aside from the obvious, we are not the only ones to have lost FB friends since then.  [ I am not at liberty to share with you most of the PM's, Texts, and E-mails we have received since then, but trust us when we say some have been heart breaking.] This issue has torn apart many friends ,,, and families.  There is much we want to write to you but will refrain ,,, for now.  I will however reiterate that we must, that's must [with every fiber of our being] attempt to be open to discussion on this issue.  I know, I know, some are just hate-filled and perhaps cannot be reasoned with, but as I stated yesterday, some are overwhelmed and bewildered by it all.  Take time to listen to them please.  We just never know the positive effect we might have ,,, if we simply listen to one another.  End of today's "Sermon by GGC".

We assure you we never in our wildest dreams expected the response we recieved, either the number of responses nor the compassion, care and love you expressed.  It blew us out of the water.  GGC has been known to shed a tear or two here and there [ read "Cry Me A River" ] but MJ not so much.  Well we sure shed many a happy tear this weekend when reading your responses.  We read them, and re-read them and RE-RE-read them.  In fact Sunday afternoon MJ said "Read the responses to me again please."  So we did and at one point misted up [ read "Cry Me A River, reprise ] and said "I hate it when men boob".  To which MJ replied: "Greg, we've walked over burning hot coals for four freaking decades, I think we're aloud to cry at this point."  I sat there misting whilst thinking: "Dog poop - dog poop - dog poop".  [ GGC thinks of dog poop to get our mind off anything that makes us misty.]  And so it went all weekend,,,because of YOU and your kindness. Special thanks to Lynn Manning, Sarah Elizabeth and Kathy Frungillo Hamilin ,,, o God, staring to mist again ,,, [ Dog poop, dog poop, dog poop .....]
Composing Saturday's post was not an easy task.  Again we were exposing the heart and like it or not, that is oft a very risky venture.  BEFORE we hit the "Publish" button we had MJ come to the office and read it himself....  he said "Go for it!".  And it was published.  Then?   Later when we checked it all we could say to MJ was: "Dear God!"  Amazing.  Simply AMAZING.

Here's a Private Message we received from one of our former GVCS Drama students
and a friend to this very day.
[ Used with permission ]

Mr. Shelley,
I wanted to share my story with you.  I can remember when I was younger never putting two and two together with you and Mr. Feldbauer.  Then, one day I saw you two jogging and asked my mom why you two were always together.  She explained, and my response was "Oh. Neat." and then onto whatever else held my young attention span at the time.  It never changed my opinion of either of you.  It was my first exposure to the LGBT community and it was a completely positive exposure.  Before, during and after you were and STILL are a role model to me.  When I came home and saw the news about the supreme court you were the first person I thought of.  I was going to message you and say congratulations!  But I couldn't think of the right words.  Well now I have them.

Thank you so very much for years of friendship and for being a wonderful role model to me.  And thank you for being the person I always think of when I want to lash out or be negative.  Instead I think "Am I being Greg? Or a Craig right now?"

I'm so happy for you and Mike and beyond overjoyed that as the world moves forward, you are finding the acceptance you so rightfully deserve and have EARNED by being such wonderful people.

Love,
Tadwick

******* ******* ******* ******* ******* ******* *******

This blew us both out of the water.  Remember "Cry Me A River" from above?  Our living room was filled with a river when we read this one aloud.  Tears of joy from both of us.  Thank you Tad Johnson [ son of Patrick and Kathy Johnson ].  Your response made us speechless - and that surely is a rare happening in this household [ between the "four" of us ! ].  And please take note of Tadwick's reference to "Greg and Craig" in his PM to us.  The kid cracks us UP!  [Well, he's a man now, but to us always a kid.]

Now that our years of GVCS assistance are residing on Memory Lane we will share a story with you, as semi-relates to Tad's PM above.

When we were encouraged to apply for the position of Drama Adviser at GVCS in 2004, not everyone on the GVCS school board was happy about it.  A certain board member apparently expressed his deep concern [ about "it" ] and only after a great deal of discussion, finally voted yes. THEN next up was MJ's application as Set Designer.  Said GVCS board member said: " I brought myself to vote for one of them, I cannot and will not vote for the other one!  [ or words to that effect].
Apparently MJ's vote was not unanimous [ but still passed ] due to "it" being an issue yet again.

We were somewhat [ but not totally ] surprised by this.  We make it a point to rarely, if ever, touch one another in public.  This includes the obvious, but even a hand on the shoulder, a nudge, ANYthing that might be misconstrued as inappropriate.  Things that even friends might due [like a punch in the shoulder or a high five, we try never to let happen.]  And God knows that we have never, ever marched in Belmont's Annual Gay Pride Parade !   ;-)

The following year [2005] if our sources are correct, we both had full GVCS school board support. And if memory serves the year after that we were pleased to welcome on stage the presence of the daughter of that very same school board member who had experienced such a struggle with us being Drama Adviser and Set Designer.  [ She was marvelous by the way.]  Does this mean that said school board member's entire views have changes as regards the gay issue?  Most probably not, but in some [perhaps very] small way there is progress.

As much as times change, progress can be very slow also, especially in a small town.   One of [but not thee] reasons we felt it time to step down from GVCS was we knew [painful as it was] that "it" was still an issue.  Unfortunately folks, this is one of those times when we cannot go into detail [not enough time has passed - maybe someday] at this point.  We knew that as soon as we stepped down the Drama Dept. at GVCS would explode with more volunteers, students AND staff ... once we were gone.  And it did.  [ We are not using "it" as an excuse either, btw ... it's simply the truth.]  When it comes down to it,,, it's always about what's best for the students, and in our case here in the Angelica/Belmont area, that's GVCS.

We have a request this morning of you as we draw this [too long for some = Sue Ross] KASIYH Blog post to a close, let's try to be a wee bit more understanding of the other side and their opinion. We might not be able to influence the true haters [ Haters Gonna Hate ], but there are those who are simply bewildered by the gay issue.  Truly bewildered by it all.  Listen to them please.  You may be their only connection to reason and then perhaps their roadway to understanding.  Small steps.  Teeny, tiny baby steps,,, to progress.  Thank you.

Only the second time we have used the above picture.
The other being October 30, 2014

Longtime readers of this Blog know that up until late last October we never mentioned that which most were aware of but were just as happy we not mention.  Then we were slammed on Facebook by an individual whose name we choose not to mention here. [It is on the original post.]  After we wrote the post October 30th, 2014 and published it quite a few things changed.

The majority of readers chose not to comment at all on that post.  Aside from the fact that silence sometimes speaks volumes, some truly didn't know how to respond.  Perhaps it made them anxious or ill at ease with the realization that "there it is".  We don't know what it was, but after the history that is "MJ and GK" , we have learned to respect silence. Far better than some of the reactions we've had over the past four decades.

The next group responded with kindness and love on Facebook the likes of which still brings us to tears.  When you become used to at best, being tolerated [ as long as you don't mention "it' ], then to see such overt love really and truly shocked us.  We will never be able to thank you enough.  Ever.

Another group called us, emailed us or PM'd us expressing their concern.  Even some of those closest to us did not know some of the things listed in that 10/30/14 Blog post.  We rarely if ever talked about it.  Too personal.  Too painful.  And if, even with those dearest to the heart, you never discuss "it", of course you'd never discuss the overt hatred you've experienced because of "it".

Still another group, much smaller, contacted us and said words to the effect of "Even though as a Christian I cannot condone your lifestyle choice, I still love you both." [empasis is mine]  In our humble opinion it is not a choice of course, anymore than your heterosexuality is your choice. [Remember the day you chose to be a heterosexual?  We think not] We still respect their opinion.

The smallest group of all involved those who dropped us from their world more or less.

We are a very Biblical household.  We too have wrestled with those seven "clobber passages" [as they are oft referred to in the gay Christian world ]  in The Good Book concerning homosexuality, that not to mentioned "it".  We have studied them, dissected them and looked into them in every way possible.   We have many books in our library solely dedicated to those verses, written from both sides of the issue.  We do not and never have taken our commitment to one another lightly, especially as concerns the God that we worship and that loves us all.  God is foremost in the minds of Michael and myself at all times,,, as we believe He should be.  Period.

Someday in the future we hope to share with you our readers, the local church that asked us to be in on their group discussion of homosexuality.  It is a wonder-filled story we assure you.  Their sessions were held over a few weeks time, limited to the elders of their church [and us], as they were desperately trying to come to grips with this issue.  It was tense.  It was tear filled.  It was enlightening.

So that brings us up to yesterday's SCOTUS ruling.  Taking everything into account that we have written above, we knew the reaction [from both sides of the issue] was going to be intense.  And it was.  We made the choice to celebrate the ruling.  Again we were smacked by some folks because of it.  [ Won't go into details.]  So be it.   Some of those mentioned on this very Blog  recently  chose to post Biblical verses, somewhat cleverly disguised, showing their overt unhappiness with the SCOTUS ruling.  That's their right.  As we emailed to a dear friend yesterday ~ " They are entitled to their"  [ in our view wrong and self-righteous] "opinion, but today is our day to celebrate!"

Make no mistake about it, the journey is not over.  In fact yesterday's SCOTUS ruling is sure to be spoken about from many pulpits across the nation tomorrow morning.  Hell fire and damnation will be preached about this "Godless" nation.  [ Although some churches, Genesis church in Scio, NY being one of them, are no longer hating us.  If I understand Pastor Marc Chamberlain's sermons correctly (available at their website) they now love our kind and in so loving and welcoming us, will later show us the error of our ways and make us heterosexual or at least celibate.  This won't interest most of you in the least, but it does us.  We have more than a couple of friends who are members of and deeply involved in that church.  Interesting ] .  And so this journey continues, on and On and ON.  We here at KASIYH Blog are eliminating all negative and self-righteous posts from our Facebook page asap.  Heard it all before.  Some folks like to feast upon negativity.  Kyrie elision.

This has been a very personal Blog post.  No doubt bored some of you.  For those of you who were not bored, we hope you understand a wee bit better our journey and the heartache AND joy it has entailed.

Thank you for reading.
And
as our dear Dianne Comiskey ever so correctly reminded us:

GOOD  MORNING  FRIENDS!

is
ONCE  AGAIN
making us miserable.
We are up to ELEVEN times that we've had to turn of the router? box off and turn it back on again after a bit to get the internet service [FOR WHICH WE PAY]
to cooperate and that's in only the last two hours.

Not sure if I can get this written and posted before it goes off again or not.

YEAH, that same  VERIZON  that recently replaced all wiring, etc.
AND that same  VERIZON  that supposedly upped our internet speed
AND
that same  VERIZON  for which we now must turn OFF our phone and Kindle
in order for Netflix, Amazon Plus and Hulu Plus
to stream to our television,
THAT  SAME
VERIZON

YOU FOLKS ARE FUNNY!

We read your Facebook comments to MJ during LR C&C
this morning and we all LOL because of YOU!

OR
NO ONE

COMPANIES WE USED TO LIKE:
We have been a VERIZON customer for forty years.
Previously we were more often than not pleased with them.
Currently not so much.
Our options are limited because of where we reside.
DANG IT!
No Time-Warner cable available here.
Direct TV internet possible but has it's limitations also.
Fit to be tied.

NEXT COMPANY
WE  USED TO  LIKE:
Loved our Keurig
UNTIL
we made the horrid mistake
recently
of purchasing the
KEURIG  2.0
Hate the danged thing!
HATE. IT.
And we hate to use the word hate but
we HATE it!

The Keurig 2.0
has is fans AND it's distractors.

We had read all the reviews about it
PROS and CONS
many, may cons by the way
and
we still bought it.
Our fault we know, we know --- NOW.

DANG IT!

Should have gone with the
more expensive but what's that when one's sanity is at risk?
Cuisinart.

What's the problem you ask?

NOT CONSISTENT.

Sometimes a good cup of coffee.

Sometimes, no make that oft times, coffee AND grounds.

The full carafe option works sometimes and not other times.

The danged thing frustrates the heck out of us.

Should have paid the extra $100. or so for the Cuisinart.

If you own a Keurig 2.0 and are happy with it
Kate Feldbauer-Handy ?
God love ya.

Side Note:  In the early years 76-78, brother Mark Feldbauer stayed with us off and on.  Mark just KNEW when we'd had our morning coffee and we'd not been so blessed.  Cracks us up looking back on it.  If Yog [ aka Mark ] entered the kitchen before I did he would have a cup o' joe waiting for me. [ Sometimes Yog was just getting IN, but that's another story,,, well actually stories! ]  We're no longer quite as caffeine addicted, but we're still a wee bit better to talk to AFTER the "fix".  And we still love Yog to no end ,,, coffee in hand or not.]

We are not liking our Keurig 2.0
and now
must now save for the Cuisinart.

DANG IT!
.
.
.

COMPANY
we  STILL  like:
Yes we know all the
"they've gotten too big for their britches"
crap
BLAH, BLAH, BLAH.

We
STILL
like 'em.

Have been a AMAZON PRIME member for years.

Best deal we ever got?
When we ordered our forty pound weight vest
and they paid for the delivery
2nd DAY
delivery no less.
Note:  They no longer pay for 2nd day delivery on such items due to it's heft.
Ha!  But they did at the time we ordered ours...yessss!
2nd Note: We don't currently use said weight vest, we grew our own
UNFORTUNATELY!

.
.
.
Speaking of weight
which we haven't mentioned on this Blog in ages
as of this morning we are down from
253
to
224
and the WEIGHT WAR continues.

.
.
.

We know we may have danced to this tune before
but
CAN YOU RECALL YOUR PROM THEME?

For the
BCS
Class of 1972
it was
" COME TOUCH THE SUN"
Theme song of the movie Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid
which apparently is going to be remade soon.

CAN YOU REMEMBER
WHO WAS
KING and QUEEN
of your prom?

BCS CLASS of 1972
were
CARL CLARK and SANDY SHEEHAN

AND THOSE ARE YOUR
OF THE DAY

Any info, memories, snarks
you wish to add,
GO RIGHT AHEAD!
