MJ and GGC
have made some rather tough decisions
as of late.
Not by any means easy choices,
but necessary for our physical and mental well-being.
YOU
have been of great assistance
[whether you knew it or not]
in helping us make said decisions.

GREETINGS  FRIENDS!
It's 2:00A.M. and every time I attempt to sleep all I do is cough, so decided to start a Blog post
Did manage to sleep for a couple of hours Sunday afternoon
but with this blasted cold, night time sleep evades me.
Dr.'s visit not worth it - it's just another virus that has to work its way through me.

Thanks to all who read Saturday's
KASIYH
Blog post
and
ESPECIALLY
THOSE
WHO DARED COMMENT ON IT

BACK AT YA
after a brief break.
Was up ALL night
[ hate that ]
but slept some from 6:00am-10:00am

As of yesterday we are
three months
away from
CHRISTMAS

That means, of course, that some people
have got most of their shopping well under way
and
some probably have it done by now.
[ Irritating asses ]

We used to be much better about planning ahead,
including but not by any means limited to,
Christmas.
WHERE did THAT energy GO?

We knew months in advance what each year's
CHRISTMAS THEME
would be,
the colors involved for each Christmas
[ inside and outside had to match = exactly ].

We had the following:
[just examples, not exhaustive]

Angel Christmas,

Old Fashioned Red and Green Christmas

All White Christmas

Irish Christmas

Country Christmas

A Blue Christmas
[for when someone close to us had passed on]

A Patriotic Christmas

Santa's Christmas

Nativity Christmas
[ many nativity scenes ]

The list goes on and on.

A couple of years after we took on
the position of
Director of Music
at
St. Mary's R.C. Church
we could no longer do all that on top of everything else.

Funny story:
Although we were never
Jim and Judy Bliven
nor
Dennis and Donna Bliven
[locals will know what we mean]
when it came to Christmas decorating,
folks did drive by here to check out our
"Christmas theme of the year".

Once we were deeply entrenched in music work at
St. Mary's
as stated above,
something had to "give" and we could no longer
spend the time on Christmas themes as in the past.

One of our dear friends,
Rita Tompkins,
from St. Mary's said to us:
" Now boys
[yeah, some folks called us "boys" = The Sunshine Boys"?]
Dorothy and I
[ That would have been Dot Schmelzer ]
drove by your house last night
and your decorations are not what they used to be darlings.
What's up?
[BTW - Rita did not mean this remark to be mean or cruel.]

We smiled and said:
" Rita, from our vantage point,
we've found that we can work on either
Great Christmas Decorations
OR
A Spectacular Church Choir
but
not both.
Did we make the wrong choice Lovey? "

Rita paused then said:
" Carry on boys! "

Seems like ever since we took on music positions

we just haven't had the time / energy
for extensive planning / decorating.

We both miss those decorating madness days
[ to some degree ]
however
we both know that even though
working for the Lord
may not make one materially rich,
but the
retirement benefits
are out of this world !

Personal Note:  I'd like to thank Sue Tronetti Ross, Carol Stewart and St. John's Choir [among others] for reminding me during the latest dark days of D.o.D. how much music is woven into the fabric of my being, especially church music.  I'd  almost  lost track of that and y'all told me to my face exactly what you thought of that misguidedness.  That, my friends, is true love and Christian compassion.  I. Thank. You.

SO
that leads us to today's

Are YOU one of the VERY PREPARED people
when it comes to Christmas?
[ Can hardly wait to hear from our very own Martha Stewart = Marcine Delo! ]

Did you
[like us]
used to be more prepared years ago
OR
have you become more prepared as the decades have passed?

My dear friend Deb Presutti
[ who is talented in more ways than I could ever even dream of ]
used to tell me she works quite well under pressure.
[when she and Dana lived on Amity Lake and Deb would make or alter bride's maid dresses, etc. and to me it seemed like she waited until that last minute ...]

Do YOU work well under pressure
when it comes to the holidays?
OR
Do you work much better with a pre-planned "Game Plan"
so-to-speak?

WHEN do YOU
seriously
start thinking about Christmas?

After
Thanksgiving
[ like we do as of late ]
OR
are you already thinking about it
even if the Christmas decorations in the stores currently
drive you to distraction?

SEPTEMBER  GREETINGS  FRIENDS!

Isn't that a wonderful tribute by the
Brighton Gay Men's Chorus
to the victims of the
Orlando Shooting?

THANK YOU
for reading / commenting on yesterday's

Blog post.

GGC was blown away by
ROGER  TALBOTT'S
fearnotonline.org
Thursday post.
! WoW !

Reminded us of when we posted the question:
[ Quite some time ago ]

" What would the child you were
think of the adult you've become? "

If you haven't read Roger's post
from yesterday,
do yourself a favor
and
do so asap.

Yes,
we are becoming
Roger Talbott
"groupies"

*

*

*

It occurred to me recently
that due to my current
wrestling match
with
DoD
we have been more serious than usual
and
[ to me at least ]
perhaps
less
controversial, potent and pointed
than is oft' the case.

Let's rectify that for a bit,
shall we?

GGC
likes using the above words.

The more seasoned one becomes,
the less virgin experiences expose themselves.

We've all been through so much in our lives,
true
virgin experiences
become rather rare.

We had a
virgin experience
recently in a small group setting,
whilst others chose to stand by and watch
[ taking care of themselves - so to speak ]
rather than to join in with our group.

Perhaps not everyone in our l'il group
[ Seven people, possibly the magnificent seven ? ]
( four males and three females )
was a virgin to this action
but GGC sure was.

What
was
this
particular
?

?
?

 Following the closing performance of
"Making God Laugh"
some of us attended a little gathering at
Better Days
in
Wellsville, NY.

I know, I know,
that's not a big deal to some of you
[ bar flies ]
but to me it was a
Virgin Experience.

I felt a bit like a
"Pork Chop at a Jewish Wedding Reception"
when we walked in that establishment.

That being stated
if I ever go there again I will not be a
"Better Days Bar Virgin".

ALAS
there are
[ as you can see ]
all kinds of
Virgin Experiences,
right
?

However
we are going to delve into the more
racy aspects of said
Virgin Experiences.
[ Donna Holmes you may want to exit here! ]

Losing one's virginity used to be such a
easily defined
issue.
If a man had sexual intercourse with a woman,
they were no longer considered to be virgins.
[ For guys they had hit a "Home Run" - recall the "base system" ? ]
End of story.
Right
?

Is that still the case in 2016
?

Here's some questions that pop into my [pea] brain.

Did things change during the
Clinton - Lewinsky
saga
?

"I did not have sexual relations with that woman..."

The last few days
[for whatever reasons]
I have been watching the news / interviews
during that time period
[and there-after]
and
have found it rather fascinating.

But it's not just the C-L time period in our history.

When I was still Drama Adviser at GVCS
I overheard many a conversation between the students.
Some of those conversations involved sex.
[SHOCK !]
Many seemed to think that as long as
[ Donna Holmes STOP reading right now! ]
the
penis
[ I warned you Donna ! ]
did not enter the
vagina
they were still
sexually pure.

This of course led to them discussing
whether sexually pure = still virgins.
That's where the disagreements occurred.
Some said yes,
some said no.

What semi-shocked GGC
was the fact that they were
very knowledgeable about not only
oral sex
[ that was not shocking ]
but also concerning
anal sex.
[ These were juniors and seniors in H.S. ]

Long story short:
In order to remain sexually pure = virgins[?]
some were willing to participate in
non - vaginal
[ but beyond oral ]
intercourse.
[ Trying to not be too explicit here folks.]

So
were they still
"virgins"
?

Were they
"sexually pure"
?

One would think that there is quite a difference between
being a
"virgin"
and being
"sexually pure".

And just for the heck of it,
if you happen to be
Gay
when are you still a
"virgin"
?

Does THAT mess with your mind at all?

I am aware of the fact that:
1.] Some of you will not answer ANY of today's questions
and
2.] Some will give "pat answers" and that will be that.

[ Discouraging at best.]

But there you have it.

Your
of the
DAY

GOOD MORNING FRIENDS!

And
HAPPY "OFFICIAL" FIRST DAY
of
THEE BEST
TIME of the YEAR

FIRST OFF THIS LOVELY DAY
I would like to mention
someone who has not been in my life all that long
but who has had a wonder-filled effect on it:
ROGER TALBOTT

Roger is married to Jacquie Feldbauer Talbott
and
he has recently retired as a minister
of the
United Methodist Church.
{Jacquie is MJ's cousin-and a blessing in her own right.}

NOW
before y'all go thinking,
"Oh great,,,just what we need, another "sermon"
KINDLY COOL YOUR JETS.

Roger
[ IMHO ]
is what minister's, pastor's, Rabbi's, etc.
should be:
Loving, Kind, Humorous & Understanding
of
everyone.

PLEASE
check out his Blog
[ begun recently ]
at

http://fearnotonline.org

and let me know what your think.
{ I had to do this by "copy and paste" not just clicking on link.}

Oh come on, just humor me, okay?

* St. John's Choir rehearsal tonight, looking forward to that.  We are finally back on "schedule", thank God.  First two rehearsals this choral season had to be placed on Tuesday eve = for the Director this is simply too soon after Sunday.  T'will be good to get back to normal so-to-speak.

* Do any of YOU become irritated that there is never enough time to read everything you'd like to read?  This is a continual frustration to GGC.  AND I might add, I find it nigh onto unbelievable that many statistic say that most[?] people never ever read a complete book [cover to cover] post high school.  Come on, that cannot be true. What do you think?

* One month from today is a very VERY important event for the Feldbauer family.  Can hardly wait.

* Interesting response to the question of who has disappointed you most in your life.  Should have known better than to leave the "myself" door open.  That'll teach me.

* Y'all have taught me a thing or two during our years together: Take care of yourself [at least at some point] or you might not be able to take care of others.  I sincerely thank you for that , , , beyond what mere words can express.

* Politically speaking I am a bit confused. [Duh!]  Have no doubt we are still Pro Hillary, but the poles are what seem confusing. Is the presidential race really as close a some say?  Or is that just a way to keep the $$$ flowing in for the candidates?  Your thoughts?

Sorry friends
but that's all for now.
TONS to get DONE
before the morrow.

YOUR QUESTIONS
as always
are
OUTLINED ABOVE.

And
THE BEAT GOES ON

GOOD  MORNING  FRIENDS

DoD still with me but his presence
[at least for the time being]
seems to lessen a bit day to day.
Thank God
and
thank each and every one of you for your kind comments on FB,
in Private Messages, via Emails and in person.
As Mother so often said:
" This too shall pass "

*

*

*

Many of you know that I read through the Bible
once every year.
[ Used to every other year, then the heart attack/Bi-Pass in 2002 and we upped the reading! ]
I try to vary the reading each year,
usually with the translation there-of.
However this year I decided to try reading through the Bible
chronologically.
[ As best as possible, with some expert, well researched advice from Biblical scholars. ]
Oh.  My.  Goodness.
In my 62+ years I've learned to
avoid saying
"Never"
wherever possible
but I
"highly doubt"
I will go the chronological route again.
Good Heavens
what a tremendous amount of jumping around it requires!
One had thought it would be easier when we reached
The New Testament
NOPE.
Not yet at least.
According to my reading schedule it will be nigh onto
mid-November
before things ease up.
[Then there's still some "jumpin' around" left to do.]
Oh well,
live and learn as they say,
and indeed I have with this one.

*

*

*

Back to DoD for just a moment.
Not knowing when we will pass through this current "visit"
MJ has convinced me
to curtail many of the plans we had for the next few months.

MJ's correct of course
[ most of the time that is ]
adding more stress
[in any form]
is definitely not the wisest course right now.

Easy and Steady
seems to be the way to weather this storm.

*

*

*

That being said,
let's get a move on,
shall we?

* Ran into sister's Sherry & Sue Tronetti [Teach / Ross ] Sunday at the Belmont Mall [ $ Gen.]. What a delight.  Of course seeing them, especially together reminds one of their Mom, Gloria. [Also known to some of us as "Momma T."]  I miss Momma T. soooooo much.  She called 'em as she saw 'em, like it or not.  Blessed were the days when her council was just a phone call away.  When Sue and I would enter one of our [infamous] "World Wars" [now referred to as "Tsunami's" ], Momma T. would always say: " You two would get along a lot better if you didn't live in each others pockets.   Damn it, you're like gasoline and a match,,, and none of us knows when the explosion will occur."   True that Momma T.   ;-)

* Odd statement from GGC:  Last Tuesday and Wednesday I thought I would PUKE music!  Spent five plus hours EACH of those days working on binders and music for St. John's Choir. I love music.  I love SJC but emptying binders, making umpteen piles of it in order to file it away in one of 6 - 7 mega huge binders [talking hymnal music here ], drives me batty.  [One does this BTW so that SJC has one (light) binder for their mass/service music and another separate binder with music currently being rehearsed for later in the choral season.  This eliminates them having to carry a heavy, packed binder during mass and a couple of different hymnals also. IF they pay attention this season we will all have our music in its proper place and order at all times.  IF they pay attention.  IF.]  This remains a work in progress, but we are very close to having things the way they should be ,,, another dream hopefully becoming a reality.

* Six days away from first presidential debate.  Did anyone see Kellyanne Conway [Trump's spokeswomen ] on last Friday's "Real Time with Bill Maher"? Who knew that Kellyanne and Bill have known one another for years?  I sure didn't.  Still waiting for a straight answer from Kellyanne [on a Trump policy question] that does not immediately deflect to a negative comment about Hillary Clinton.  Something tells me I'll be waiting a l--o--n--g time for that to happen.

HERE'S
A
Which you probably won't be able to answer publically,
I know I can't.

Looking back over the totality of your life,
WHO
is the person that has disappointed you
the
most?

This question came to me whilst waiting in the truck for MJ
this past Sunday.

One's first thought might be
one's spouse / significant other
[those closest to us have the potential to hurt us the most]
BUT
is that always the case?

I don't think so.

What are your thoughts?

Perhaps tackle this question by not naming anyone
but rather
by analyzing the question itself.

Will leave it at that.

The
Discussion Floor
is
now
